Nottingham Forest v Malmö and memories of 1979. The both teams have a special connection, also competing in Forest's most recent continental tour in the 1995-96 Uefa Cup, but it is the continental championship from 1979 that connects these teams, with the record-breaking signing Trevor Francis netting the decisive goal of a largely forgettable match to claim legendary status for the the English club.

This represented an extraordinary accomplishment that it is hard to see being repeated – from the lower league to continental competition in a short period."
It's also interesting to pause a little on Malmö, who became the first, and to date the last Swedish club to advance to the ultimate game under English manager Bob Houghton.
The current fixture is a very different to that peak, closer perhaps to the previous continental meeting between Forest and Malmö in that era. Forest are absolutely buzzing after defeating Liverpool convincingly at Liverpool's home on Saturday, while Malmö haven't kicked a competitive ball since early November following the end of the Swedish league season. The general expectation is on the Forest tonight.
